U.S. Air Force civil engineers, with the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), 116th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES), Georgia Air National Guard (GANG), along with other Air National Guard and active duty civil engineers, test a mobile aircraft arresting system during United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) Silver Flag 2017 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, June 7, 2017. The intensive eight-day course involved 155 students from 13 Air National Guard and active-duty civil engineer units. The classroom and hands-on instruction from subject matter experts at the 435th Construction and Training Squadron, prepared the Airmen to work in a joint expeditionary environment setting up a bare base in a hostile forward operating location. The aircraft arresting system is capable of stopping an aircraft with a tail hook during landing with an inflight emergency. (U.S. Air National Guard video by Senior Master Sgt. Roger Parsons)
