U.S., French and Italian service members participate in static-line and free fall jumps on June 6, 2017, commemorating World War II's Allied invasion of Normandy, termed "D-Day", near Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The bilateral jump is in honor of the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, and aslo celebrates the continued partnership of allied forces. French Force Djibouti provided a Transall C-160 tactical transport aircraft using French parachutes and French jump masters. All who jumped earned French jump wings.
CJTF-HOA promotes prosperity and security in East Africa by assisting partner nations with countering violent extremist organizations, fostering regional security cooperation, and by protecting U.S. personnel and facilities in its 10-country area of responsibility.
