Why Army University? The Army education system needs to rebalance the pillars of leader development across education, training, and experience after years of conflict. The Army professional military education lacks prestige, is outdated, and does not address the complexity of the security environment. The Army University will align, synchronize and bring better unity of effort across the more than 70 separate schools and 100 additional institutions. It is the most significant transformation of the Army school system since the end of WWI. Army University aligns the commissioned officer, warrant officer, non-commissioned officer and civilian education programs under a single academic governance structure. To notify and inform the Army and Congress that the Army is changing its education system to the University system, a collaborative learning environment encompassing existing Army Education Institutes.
