Camp Zama’s 2017 Cherry Blossom Festival was held recently, and despite the weather, more than 9,000 people from the U.S. military, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and the Japanese community came to the installation to experience a mix of Japanese and American culture.

This is our second or third time to come to a festival on Camp Zama. Whenever we come here we feel so welcomed by people who live here so we enjoy it every time.

I've been to the Bon-Dance festival once but this is my first time to come to the Cherry Blossom Festival on Camp Zama. I think it is great to see a different culture that we aren't (normally or usually) exposed to and it's great opportunity to teach our kids about a different culture.

Camp Zama contains more than 300 cherry blossom trees, which were mostly planted by graduates of the Imperial Army Academy and members of the JGSDF.
