The Delaware National Guard saw its first change of command in nearly 20 years as Brig. Gen. Carol Timmons accepted the guidon from Maj. Gen. (ret.) Frank Vavala on Feb. 12, 2017 in New Castle, Del. Timmons is the first woman to be Adjutant General of Delaware in the state's history, and the first Air Force officer to hold the post in 40 years. Gen. Joseph Lengyel, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, spoke at the ceremony.
