    1st Marine Logistics Group

On Jan. 1, 2017, at approximately 1 a.m. Lance Cpl. Justin Rucker, a field radio operator with Communications Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group, witnessed a traffic collision where a SUV hit a Sedan. Rucker and his friend, Alejandro Zamarripa, immediately gave aid to those involved until the police and paramedics arrived.
According to Rucker the SUV had two males in the front seats and three females in the back seats who were all intoxicated. One female in the back seats had a gash on her upper lip, but other than that they were uninjured. The Sedan had one male in the driver’s seat whose head impacted the windshield, rendering the driver unconscious. Rucker carefully pulled the man from the Sedan and checked his pulse and breathing. He remained with the man while Zamarripa tended to the five in the SUV until the paramedics arrived.
Rucker was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his actions.
