A family learns the importance of taking things one day at a time.
Sometimes we forget to remember just how valuable the time that we have together is.
It’s just… it’s kind of a waiting game… you just kind of see what tomorrow brings and you just do every day as it comes… one day at a time.
We ended up going to the ER… and from there it just went *pop* fast.
I noticed Carson’s leg kept giving out on him and we were like ‘oh it must be growing pains or something like that’ and so we just got him some different shoes and thought… ‘this, this will work’ and then as we got here the days progressed and it was like he was losing the ability to walk
Once we got here it was so bad it was almost debilitating. He would be walking up stairs and just fall to his knees and he wouldn’t be able to get up.
My wife and I were driving up into Aviano when the hospital called us and they were talking to her for a while.
I never even dreamt that it would have been leukemia.
It’s definitely one of the hardest things to hear, because you don’t know… you don’t know anything. You don’t know if we’re late, if we’re too late.
We just did… we just did what we were supposed to do.
And the… the more I think about it now… I don… I don’t know if I mentally was present, you know, for any of that type of stuff, you know, I think we just… went through it.
But luckily my squardron's been amazing… they’ve.. they’ve allowed me to go there and help with my family… my wife’s day to day is a lot more complex than mine.
He’s really strong… like he’s… he’s just a really good father. He doesn’t want to cry… you know, he’s doesn’t…. he doesn’t show emotion.
You know, it’s either gonna break you or bring you together and I think we’re... we’re working on really binding ourselves together a lot better.
He’ll never be out of the woods… but… leukemia has a very high success rate… so I don’t worry so much about… whether… he’s gonna make it or not make it…
We’ve had a lot of good days because we are actually like… we just value the time that we do have together.
