Capt. Jason Smith, the company commander with Headquarters and Service Company, III MHG, offers insight on Marine-Okinawan interaction at the III MEF Headquarters Group's 241st Marine Corps Birthday Ball. Distinguished guests from the local Kin Town community were invited to attend the event at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The ball featured a Naginata sword demonstration and a Kagami Biraki ceremony, a traditional act in which a sake barrel is broken to bring good luck and blessings to those in attendance.
