On 6 October 2016 at Offutt AFB, NE. the 595th Command and Control Group was activated by Maj. Gen. Thomas A. Bussiere, Commander of Eighth Air Force. Colonel Robert L. Billings assumed command of the new Group with four Squadrons under his leadership. The four Squadrons are:
The 1st Airborne Command and Control Squadron. Their mission is to provide the President and Secretary of Defense with a survivable command center for directing United States forces during conditions of peace and war. The 1st Airborne Command and Control Squadron is commanded by Lt. Col. Anthony T. Shafer.
The 595th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Their mission is to organize, train and resource Airman to maintain, generate and sustain constant state strategic deterrence by providing safe, reliable aircraft the execute command and control operations globally. The 595th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron is commanded by Lt. Col. Douglas J Dodge.
The 595th Strategic Communications Squadron. Their mission is Airman providing strategic deterrence through real-time, secure nuclear command, control and communications capabilities in support of DoD, USSTRACTCOM and AFGSC. The 595th Strategic Communications Squadron is commanded by Major Andrew T. Kasperek.
The 625th Strategic Operations Squadron. Their mission is to execute and support global strike through continuous, rapid accurate and survivable nuclear operations. The 625th Strategic Operations Squadron is commanded by Lt. Col. Deane R. Konowicz.
