U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade conduct river crossing operations with the italian army using a PGM (Motorized Floating Bridge) in Piacenza, Italy October 17 ,2016. Livorno Shock is a combined readiness exercise designed to familiarize U.S. paratrooper with river crossing capabilities, lead by the Italian Army’s 2nd Engineer Regiment Pointieri. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly-deploying forces to the U.S. Army Europe, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility within 18 hours. The brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build stronger relationships and strengthen the alliance.
