A C-17 Globemaster III from Dover Air Force Base, Delaware landed at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, Oct. 6, 2016, to load personnel and equipment to transport to Haiti where Joint Task Force-Bravo and Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Southern Command helicopters and crews are conducting disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. Approximately 100 Soldiers, Airmen and Marines from JTF-Bravo and SPMAGTF-SC deployed Oct. 4 and 5 with two CH-53E Super Stallion, three CH-47 Chinook, and two UH-60L and two HH-60L Black Hawk helicopters to provide heavy and medium lift to support the U.S. Agency for International Development-led mission.
The cargo aircraft were deployed to Soto Cano to transport additional personnel and equipment necessary to sustain flight and maintenance operations for the aircraft in Haiti.
