Camp Pendleton has an incredibly positive relationship with the surrounding community. The base hosts multiple events that are open to the public like the World Famous Mud Run, Paintball Park, and various tours. Many community organizations and leaders have welcomed us into their homes, churches, and schools and we thank them for their generosity. It is important we maintain a close relationship with our neighbors, but we must also balance that with security and protection for our Marines, Sailors, civilian employees and families. This change will allow for more control over who enters the base helping Marines accomplish their missions while allowing authorized personnel, sponsored visitors and authorized visitors access to the base. We will continue to look at ways we can maintain a healthy balance supporting our needs and those of the community.
