Marine Sgt. Christopher Fernandez, a squad leader with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, describes his experience while visiting and learning about different battlefield sites in Guam, Sept. 18, 2016. Leaders from the unit organized this event during Valiant Shield 16 to teach the Marines about their division's history — the division who liberated Guam in 1944. Conducting these types events provide service members the opportunity to learn about their history as a unit. "This unit function definitely opened my eyes as to how 3/3 played a part in the Pacific campaign," said Fernandez. "Especially as an infantryman, like my forefathers . . . knowing what they did makes me want to continue that legacy." (Motion Imagery by Cpl Theodore Bergan)
