A crewmember aboard a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, drops a Self-Locating Datum Marker Buoy (SLDMB) into the ocean during a search and rescue patrol Thursday, July 14, 2016, to search for possible survivors of a migrant capsized vessel in waters between the British Virgin Islands and the Caribbean Island of Saint Maarten.

The SLDMB is designed to measure surface ocean currents, which provides valuable information to Coast Guard watchstanders planning search and rescue efforts.
