Year to date, the Illinois Army National Guard (ILARNG) is experiencing higher recordable Army accidents and near miss incidents than during FY15. Tragically, preventable non-duty accidentals have killed three ILARNG Soldiers this year alone. Soldier indiscipline, complacency and a loss of situational awareness are the current causation trends for most of these accidents.
This is a message from Illinois Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major Mark Bowman regarding those trends and his expectations of Soldiers during the annual training season.
