Mosquito-borne diseases, such as dengue fever, malaria, and the West Nile and Zika viruses, affect more than 390 million people each year, or about 40 percent of the world’s population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The number of pregnant women with Zika in the United States has more than tripled from 48 to 157, according to a CDC report. Airmen across the country are doing their part to combat the vector-borne diseases. (U.S. Air Force video by Jimmy D. Shea)
