Marines with 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment deploy to Ojojihara Maneuver Area in Sendai, Japan, to conduct Artillery Relocation Training Program 16-1, May 7-29, 2016. ARTP is a Japan-funded, routine training exercise that allows Marines with 3rd BN, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, to conduct live-fire training. ARTP is special because it allows Marines to conduct the training they require to maintain their skills in expeditionary readiness and it also provides a means to interact with their local Japanese neighbors.
