During the Best Warrior Competition in March, Staff Sgt. Gerald Peck motivated himself by carrying something special with him - the combat patch of Staff Sgt. Alex Toups, a Mississippi Army National Guardsman who was supposed to be at the competition, but passed away unexpectedly. Peck is currently competing at the regional level for Best Warrior and continues to carry the patch in honor of Toups. (Mississippi National Guard video by Staff Sgt.
