The U.S. Coast Guard rescues a missing 17-year-old girl after a 4-hour search off Tarpon Springs, Florida, Sunday, April 10, 2016. The Coast Guard launched an air and surface search at 6 p.m. after the family reported the girl missing. She became separated from her family during a kayaking trip and did not return to their departing location. The missing girl stated her kayak was waked by a boat causing her to lose her paddle; she then drifted for several hours into evening until a Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew spotted her at 10:06 p.m. Sunday. The Coast Guard helicopter crew remained on scene and vectored in a 29-foot response boat crew from Station Sand Key, Florida. The boat crew recovered her in stable condition with signs of mild hypothermia and then transported her to awaiting EMS and family members. U.S. Coast Guard video.
