The U.S. Air Force has been delivering humanitarian aid to remote Pacific Islands since 1952, making it the DoD’s longest running air drop mission. Operation Christmas Drop allows private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on C-130 Hercules aircraft to airdrop food, supplies, educational materials and toys to more than 50 islands spread across 1.8 million square miles. Amy Forsythe reports this how the Guam community pulls together every year to provide needed supplies and equipment to send to remote Pacific Islands.
