Chief Petty Officer Ian Eady, executive petty officer, Coast Guard Cutter Kanawha, steers the cutter along the Mississippi River to begin a trip where the cutter’s crew will maintain aids to navigation along the Mississippi, Arkansas and White Rivers, Nov. 16, 2015. The cutter Kanawha has a regular rudder system as well as a flanking rudder system that helps the crew approach buoys and navigate safely along the strong currents of the rivers they work.
