Today we had an opportunity to use ideal urban combat training area in San Gregorio, Spain and conduct up to platoon level training in urban warfare. Ur-ban warfare differs remarkably from our usual forest environment fighting, here you need to consider three dimensions and every man should pay a lot of at-tention to combat vision and forwarding the information about the surround-ings. This information is crucial for the commanders to effectively control and guide their troops. Every angle should be covered with fire and movement should be coordinated. You can always do better, but I think that thanks to this superb training facility here in Spain our performance got better with every round of exercise.
It was definitely different environment to get used to. Traditionally people think of Spain as a place where to spend their holidays under the sun. But for our units it was something completely different during the first days of exercise – cold, rain, storm and high winds. But I think that everybody is now used to the climate and got over the first shock because the weather got a lot better. We can actually enjoy warm climate on our free time and appreciate this beautiful area around us. Practically I expect a lot of new lessons from different terrain and exercising elements we might not to be able to train at home.
