According to the World Health Organization, blood loss is the leading cause of death worldwide. The only way the Army can cope with the constant need for blood products is for Soldiers to roll up their sleeves and give.
Womack Army Medical Center’s chief of blood services supervises two to three blood drives every week at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and other installations in the region. The Fort Bragg Armed Services Blood Program lab technicians are piloting a new blood plasma product that with greater portability that will help medics save additional lives.
Embedded Behavior Health – or EBH – is focused on early intervention and treatment by a dedicated behavioral health team in close proximity to the unit’s work area and in close coordination with unit leaders. The region is currently spreading the Embedded Behavioral Health program beyond brigade-level command to smaller operational units.
