Ronnie Grant, chairman of the Old Velasco Historical Committee, explains the history of Coast Guard Station Freeport and presents Chief Warrant Officer Robert Downs, commanding officer Station Freeport, with a plaque for the continued cooperation and support of the Coast Guard with the community of Surfside Beach.
Station Freeport is one of the oldest on the Texas Gulf Coast and the Surfside City Hall resides in the original station house from the late 1800s. U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 3rd Class Dustin R. Williams.
