U.S. Department of State online press conference featuring Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield and Assistant United States Trade Representative for Africa Florizelle (Florie) Liser. They discussed the upcoming African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum taking place August 24-27 in Libreville, Gabon. The 2015 Forum marks the 14th year that government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and civil society representatives from African countries and the United States will convene to promote trade, business, and investment opportunities that sustain economic development in Africa. Given the recent passage of U.S. legislation reauthorizing AGOA for an additional ten years, the 2015 AGOA Forum will be an opportunity to celebrate AGOA’s success over the last fifteen years, how to maximize impact over the next decade, and launch a dialogue on our shared vision for the post-AGOA future of U.S.-Africa trade.
