Army and Navy reserve Soldiers and Sailors give medical services to residents of southern Missouri during the Innovative Readiness Training Bootheel mission. During IRT Bootheel, Soldiers and Sailors provide basic medical services such as dental, optometry and basic medical care in three southeastern Missouri cities: Sikeston, Dexter and Malden. The clinic is held during a two week period and is open to anyone in the region, many of which have no access to these basic services. IRT missions provide an opportunity for Soldiers and Sailors in the reserve to fulfill their annual training requirement and also give back to the communities within the United States.
