Hello Team Andersen. The video you’re about to see is a reenactment of a real-life incident that happened to two airmen swimming in Guam.
It was an ordinary day. Being deployed here was a lot of fun, and we both loved the outdoors. We both had our scuba diving certification, so we decided we’d go snorkeling. We were swimming a safe distance from the reef just checking everything out, and that’s when I realized that I was caught in the rip current. I had heard about the waters being dangerous and been told what to do if you’re caught in a current, but within seconds we were both pulled into the water on the other side of the reef. That’s when I lost track of where my friend was. I got caught in what’s called a washing machine effect, and that pulled me under several times. I climbed up on the reef just to get out. People need to take water safety to heart, and know the conditions of wherever they plan to go. Look them up online, know what the different flags mean, and learn to read the conditions of wherever their at. I wish I had because we could have died.
