Ceremonies marking the 60th Anniversary of the Defense Language Institute English Language Center and the opening of the DLIELC Alumni International Wall of Fame took place on the DLIELC campus at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, May 9, 2014. The DLIELC prepares U.S. and international military and civilian personnel to communicate in English and provides English language training and services to programs around the world in support of Security Cooperation objectives. SB – Brig Gen Ayyar, “…Congratulations to all on your 60th, this institution has reached the age that its honor and reputation are worth defending. And all that’s required of each of us is to be our best self, each day.”
SB – Col Anderson, “…We’ve grown into a college…teaching and evaluating some 3500 students per year from 110 countries. Between 800 and 1300 students can be found at DLI on any given day. While studying English, they’re also learning about American culture and our way of life.”
NARRATION: Immediately following the anniversary ceremony there was a ribbon cutting for the Defense Language Institute English Language Center Alumni International Wall of Fame.
