Members from Hawaii, Virginia, Wyoming and Puerto Rico National Guard all part of the 777th Aviation Support Battalion took part in Downed Aircraft Recovery Team exercises as well as battle damage assessment & repair drills.
The DART and BDAR scenarios are designed to simulate real world situations, such as a forced landing due to combat or mechanical failure. The team flew to Schofield Barracks in a CH-47 Chinook to repair a simulated downed aircraft.
While some of the Soldiers are well versed in this type of training, this was the first time for many of them to work with Soldiers from different states and territories.
Soldiers say this type of camaraderie is critical for their upcoming deployment. The 777th ASB is set to deploy in 2016. Includes sound bites from Spc. Tobias Vidaurri, 777th Aviation Support Battalion. Also available in high definition.
