The Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing spent a week at the Air National Guard Combat Readiness and Training Center in Gulfport, Mississippi honing operational skills. The approximately 900-person unit’s primary mission is C-130 H aircrew training, but from June 8 through 13 the wing – based at the Little Rock Air Force Base – put its expeditionary training to the test during air operations that included specialized cargo delivery, troop air assault training and Air Force special forces HALO jumps.
The 189th Airlift Wing is an integral part of Team Little Rock and is responsible for the critical Formal Training Unit mission for the C-130 H. The wing trains more than 700 pilots, navigators, loadmasters and flight engineers throughout the year, and works side-by-side with our active duty partners.
