1st Lt. James Salka was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune June 8. Salka, the executive officer of Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, was awarded for his service in Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment.
