Alaska Army National Guardsmen with the 297th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade conduct their 2-week annual training in Bethel, Alaska, and outlying villages in March. The Guardsmen took advantage of the terrain and location to perform joint arctic training events, to include participants from the AKARNG’s 1-207th Aviation Regiment, Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing, meteorologists with the Oregon Air National Guard, and airborne drop assistance from U.S. Army Alaska. A portion of their AT included providing brigade support operations in western Alaska, operating small unit support vehicles, medical evacuation, arctic survival skills, hoist and airborne operations.
