In 2009 Missouri Air National Guard member Lt. Col. Janice Kroone received a call from the C.W. Young Department of Defense Bone Marrow Donor Program. The program informed her she was a match for a man who was suffering from leukemia. Responding yes to the call to donate, and within only a few weeks, Lt. Col. Kroone was flown to Washington D.C. The recipient was in desperate need of STEM cells, and Lt. Col. Kroone was his last chance for life
