Veterinary soldiers of the 5501st U.S. Army Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, treated 21 dogs belonging to San Francisco Bay area homeless veterans participating in the 2014 East Bay Stand Down. The EBSD, which ran from Sept. 10 to 14, was a camp of more than 300 homeless veterans on the Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, Calif. While the veterans received free social, legal, medical and dental services the pets were taken off-site for the four days and given first-class veterinary and grooming attention.
