The Chiefs and Eagles went head to head during a volleyball tournament this past week at Tarague Beach. Airman first class Ameka Mmoh got front row seats to the match of the year.
The Chiefs and Eagles volleyball teams showed that morale can be built in and out of the workplace. Chief Master Sergeants and Commanders on Andersen Air Force Base competed against one another to be the best volleyball teams on base. Playful banter and good sportsmanship on both sides kept the match interesting as well as challenging. Cmsgt Lisa Johnson, security forces manager, 36 sfs:
“this is awesome; we weren’t expecting to have this much of a turnout for the Chiefs vs the Eagles and i think this is a start of a tremendous camaraderie between the E-9’s and 0-6’s.”
    Reporter:
Both teams had each other on and off their feet with powerful hits and remarkable digs. The match got more interesting as the score got closer. Tough serves and undeniable teamwork allowed the Eagles to pull ahead of the Chiefs and win. But this match wasn’t just about who won and who lost.
Cmsgt Lisa Johnson, security forces manager, 36 SFS:
“its just about bringing six people on a court together, that kind of teamwork will resonate throughout an entire wing…if we look at the Air Force then fitness has to be a part because you never know if tomorrow you have to go to combat, you have to be fit and ready to go to war, we have to be accountable and you have to be ready to go to war. Volleyball brings fitness.”
    Reporter:
This volleyball match, ending with a score of two sets to one, was just the beginning of future competitions between the eagles and chiefs; stay tuned for more to come. Reporting from Andersen Air Force Base, I’m Airman First Class Ameka Mmoh.
