Airmen from the Hawaii Air National Guard’s 154th Wing are headed home after building two new female dormitories at the the Togoba (TOE-GAH-BA) secondary school in Papua New Guinea. The airmen helped students in Mount Hagen (HAH-GEN),which is the capital city of the western highlands province. During the closing ceremony, a few airmen had a chance to experience local tribal customs firsthand. The airmen were in Papua New Guinea as part of Operation Pacific Unity. The goal of the engagement is to demonstrate goodwill and enhance partnership in the region. This is the first time the Hawaii Air National Guard took the lead on the operation. Officials chose the school because of its remote location and urgent facility requirements.PACUNITY helps cultivate common bonds and fosters goodwill between the U.S. and regional nations through multilateral humanitarian assistance and civil military operations.
