Overland Park Fire Department, 7th Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction) based in Jefferson City, Missouri. The CST is a 22-man full-time team comprised of Army and Air Guard National Guard of the Missouri National Guard.
The OPFD, 7th Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction) and the FBI conducted training at the Overland Park Fire and Administration and Training Center, Overland Park, Kansas, Aug. 4, 2014, as part of a large state-side exercise, Vigilant Guard 2014, hosted by Kansas. Scenario: a media team member received a suspicious letter containing a white powder substance and immediately became ill upon opening the letter. The subject was also eating a powdered donut and drinking their morning coffee. The Overland Park Fire Haz-Mat team was called to investigate. Upon further inspection, they realized this was more involved than they had the capability to deal with and called the 7th CST (WMD) and the FBI. They began their analysis to determine what the substance was, the threat level to the public, if any, and how to contain it.
