BOSTON - The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 48-year-old fisherman from commercial fishing vessel at approximately 90 miles southeast of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Sept. 19, 2011. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England received a call via marine-band VHF channel 16 from the 44-foot fishing vessel Rachel T, homeported in Portland, Maine, reporting that the vessel's captain was suffering from severe abdominal pain and vomiting. A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew immediatly launched, and once on scene the crew safely hoisted the man. He was taken to Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Maine. His condition is unknown. U.S. Coast Guard video by Lt. Nick Barrow.
