On May 7, 2007, the Coast Guard rescued nine people from three seperate sailboats in the wake of Subtropical Storm Andrea off North Carolina. This video shows the rescue of three men off the raft of the sunken 44-foot sailboat Sean Seamour II approximately 120 miles from shore. On Feb. 4, 2010, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Drew Dazzo is to receive Canada's second-highest decoration for bravery for rescuing the Ottawa sailor and his crewmates from the raft. Dazzo is among nearly 50 recipients to be honoured by Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean at Rideau Hall. Dazzo is to receive the Star of Courage, awarded for 'acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of great peril,' according to the Vancouver Sun.
Rescued from the raft were Rudy Snel, 62, and his European crew mates, Jean Pierre de Lutz, 58, and Ben Tye, 31.
