WASHINGTON, D.C. - This nominee for 2009 Coast Guard video of the year features a medical evacuation of a crewmember from a U.S. Navy submarine off the coast of Wash., by an aircrew from Air Station Astoria, Ore. ASTC John Schelin narrates the medevac.

ASTC John Schelin: We were called out to a Navy submarine for a Navy sailor. Once on scene we realized that we couldn't go from the missile deck because of the high seas so we elected to go hoist the gentleman from the conning tower and we transferred him back to an Oregon hospital where he was cared for.
