Washington Foreign Press Center briefing provides background and context on the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington (August 28, 1963) and the civil rights movement of the 1960s. It also provides insight into how public officials and private entrepreneurs are currently working to revitalize the city.
The FPC briefing starts with a viewing of “The March”, a short documentary about the March on Washington culminating in excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. After that, Taylor Branch, the Pulitzer prize-winning author of the America in the King Years trilogy talks about the significance of the March on Washington and discuss the ongoing civil rights movement in America.
