Fort Stewart Soldiers and Civilians recently had the chance to participate in a “Mini Indoor Triathlon” at Newman Fitness Center on Fort Stewart on July 23rd. The Triathlon consisted of three timed events – swimming, biking and running. These events tested the physical and mental endurance of the athletes. Athletes were scored using a point system based on distance and repetition and were given between five and ten minutes to transition between events. Points were deducted if athletes spent too much time in transition. On Wednesday two athletes were chosen as the top female and top male athletes. This event marks one of several hosted by Newman gym every month. Soldiers, spouses and civilians are invited to attend the next event, an Aerobic-Thon and Wellness Fair on August 24th.
