Soldiers from the Alabama and Maine National Guard jointly toured the battlefields of Gettysburg, to mark the 150th Anniversary of the battle that turned the tide of the Civil War. Units in both states can still trace their lineage to the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment and the 4th & 15th Alabama Volunteer Infantry Regiments, who faced each other during three bloody days of battle, that saw between 40 - 50,000 Soldiers die. The two states toured the key areas of the battlefield and laid rememberance wreaths at their respective state monuments before joining together for a final ceremony.
