On 1 October 2012, marked the begining for Domestic Abuse Awareness Month throughout the Department of Defense community at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, S.C. The event was led by Marine Corps Community Services. Purple ribbons were tied on trees and bushes around the hospitals perimeter to recognize the many who suffer in silence when it comes to domestic violence.
