In 2012, the Chief of Engineers Awards of Excellence award for Innovation of the year was awarded to Maglio Coraggio of the Design Branch of the Engineering Division of Jacksonville District.
Maglio was selected for the Innovator Award, for the improved disposal area weir decanting system design that utilizes dual box risers on slab.
It is the intention of the Jacksonville district that for all future dredged material management area’s that this new weir decanting system be used as the standard.
