    U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific

    Ground troops from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Tonga and the United States joined forces to conduct land based and amphibious exercises on and around Hawaii's Big Island during Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2012. Approximately 2,200 service members from nine countries formed the exercise's Combined Force Land Component Command, operating under the command of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 3. A total of 22 nations and more than 25,000 service members participated in RIMPAC 2012, the world's largest maritime exercise. Soundbite includes U.S. Marine Col.
