U.S. and Peruvian military engineers are working side-by-side on a multi-use community center construction project in Tambo de Mora, Peru, as part of New Horizons 2012. The project includes a library, clinic, auditorium, playground and central park area and was designed to meet the needs of a community devastated by an earthquake and tsunami in 2007. U.S. and Peruvian military engineers are honing their skills and learning from one another while working on the project. New Horizons is an annual U.S. Southern Command-sponsored joint and combined training and humanitarian assistance exercise conducted in Latin American and Caribbean nations.
