The Iowa Air National Guard is the first U.S. F16 Sq. to be based at Kandahar, Air Field, Afghanistan. The 451st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron (EFS) is responsible for close air support for soldiers on the ground as well as conducting other combat missions in the region to ensure peace and stability in the Kandahar Province.
