    Video by Sgt. Joe Villines

    364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

Interviews with 1st Sgt. Luke A. Grim, from Long Beach, Calif., a member of the 56th Signal Co., 160th Signal Brigade, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, talking about his fourteen years of service and teaching Modern Army Combatives, and with Sgt. Amanda Ostermeyer, from Pittsburgh, Pa., a medical operations sergeant for the 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, out of Marysville, Wash., talking about first being a student, then an instructor in the combatives program. Interviews accompany B-roll footage of Soldiers training for level 1 of 4 in the Modern Army Combatives program held at Camp Arifjan. The challenging course is held over a week’s time to teach students the drills and skills essential to mastering the next three levels. Currently, only level one and two are taught here. The combatives program was developed by Army special forces in response to a changing battlefield and replaced the older hand-to-hand combat training previously taught in basic training. Produced by Sgt. Joe A. Villines.
