B-roll - USNS Arctic - Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Force Reconnaissance Platoon and Security Element, Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th MEU, conduct a simulated expanded, visit, board search and seizure onto the USNS Arctic, Dec. 4-5. The mission was two of three days of simulated missions the 24th MEU and their Navy counterparts, Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON-8), will conduct during their Composite Training Unit Exercise and is meant to enhance the skills needed to board a vessel, from sea and air, while underway at sea. COMPTUEX is scheduled to take place Nov.28 to Dec. 21 and will test the 24th MEU and PHIBRON-8 in conducting various missions they could face while deployed. The exercise is focused on building cohesion between the 24th MEU and PHIBRON-8 in conducting amphibious operations, crisis response, and limited contingency operations while operating from the sea.
